Geberit Sigma Buying Guide: Cisterns, Pans and Flush Plates
Check the cistern, pan and flush plate as a complete system, including the distinction between genuine and compatible components.
A concealed cistern toilet is a system of connected parts. Choosing the visible flush plate first can leave you with a component that does not suit the cistern or installation. Start with the pan type and cistern model, then check the plate and package inclusions.
1. Identify the pan mounting type
A floor-mounted wall-faced pan and a wall-hung pan require different installation arrangements. The Geberit Sigma 8 concealed cistern for a wall-faced pan is a different product from a Duofix installation element designed for a wall-hung pan. A similar name or slim profile does not make them interchangeable.
Ask your installer to check the wall construction, waste connection, pan set-out and water inlet using the technical documents. Confirm the required cistern or frame before the wall is closed or tiled.
2. Match the flush plate to the cistern
Geberit groups flush plates by system, including Sigma. The plate needs to suit the exact cistern and actuation arrangement. For an existing installation, identify the cistern model or part number before choosing a replacement plate by colour or button shape.
Some combinations require a specific adapter or additional component. Do not assume that a plate from another family is a direct replacement. The same care applies to electronic or touchless controls: check their compatibility, power and installation requirements separately.
Genuine Geberit or compatible?
Read the listing’s brand and description. A Geberit-manufactured plate and a third-party plate described as “Geberit compatible” are different products. Both the appearance and the included hardware should be checked, and compatibility should be confirmed for the specific model. This distinction is especially useful when comparing coloured button packages.
3. Read the package inclusions line by line
In the Geberit cistern toilet package collection, a package can pair a Geberit cistern with a Fienza, Ovia or another branded pan. The presence of “Geberit” in a package title does not mean every supplied component is manufactured by Geberit.
- Cistern: exact model and whether an installation frame is included.
- Pan: manufacturer, mounting type, trap configuration and finish.
- Seat: confirm that the selected seat is included.
- Flush plate: model, brand, colour and any required adapter.
- Connections and fittings: compare the supplied parts with the installation drawing.
For example, compare the listed inclusions of the Sigma 8 and Fienza Koko matte white package with a cistern sold on its own. They answer different buying needs.
4. Plan access and future servicing
Keep the cistern and plate model numbers with the installation paperwork. Your installer should confirm the service-access arrangement and fit the system according to its instructions. When a replacement component is needed, the model number is more useful than a photograph of the front plate alone.
For spare parts, match the full part code and application. A pipe, seal or flush mechanism with a similar appearance is not enough to establish that it fits your cistern.
What to send us when asking for help
Provide the cistern model or label, the existing plate details, the pan type and any part code you have. If you are planning a new bathroom, include the proposed pan and installation drawing. This helps our team check the product combination before you order.
