Nero Mecca or Zen? How to Build Your Tapware Shortlist
Compare Nero Mecca and Zen around your bathroom layout. Check mixer format, finishes, shower controls and accessories before building your shortlist.
Choosing between Nero collections is easier when you separate the visual style from the installation requirements. Mecca and Zen can both be starting points for a bathroom scheme, but the right shortlist is made from exact products, not the collection name alone. Use the steps below to compare the fittings that suit your room.
Decide which mixer format your basin needs
Begin with the basin type and tap position. A mixer on a basin’s tap deck, a tall mixer through the benchtop and a wall-mounted mixer need different arrangements. Record the basin height and bowl position, then compare the mixer’s outlet height and reach using the technical drawing.
Browse Nero Mecca and Nero Zen with that format in mind. Compare the same installation type in each collection. A wall mixer and a freestanding tall mixer are not useful price comparisons if only one suits your plumbing plan.
Compare the complete room, not one tap
Shortlist the shower controls, bath outlet and accessories alongside the basin mixer. Look at the visible proportions, lever shape, backplates and rail profiles together. A close-up photograph can make these details appear more similar than they will on a finished wall.
| Compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Mixer and spout format | Must suit the basin or bath and the plumbing position |
| Control arrangement | Determines how water is mixed and outlets are selected |
| Finish on each product | Availability can differ by model and component |
| Backplate and trim size | Affects the visible result and replacement coverage |
| Accessory dimensions | Must fit the usable wall space |
Check in-wall bodies and trim kits separately
A trim kit is the visible portion of a fitting; it should not be assumed to include the hidden body. Read the listing for the exact model and check the compatible body before rough-in. Similar-looking controls from another range are not proof of interchangeability.
For a shower with more than one outlet, confirm how the water is controlled. A diverter switches between outlets, while the mixer controls temperature and flow. Some exposed shower systems already include a diverter. Your installer should check the selected system before you add another control to the order.
Choose finishes with the whole palette in view
Keep the finish name and product code on the shortlist. Look at the cabinet, tile, basin, shower screen hardware and lighting as a group. Where you are mixing brands, do not assume matching colour names mean matching colour or texture. Ask about finish samples or display products when the visual match is critical.
Nero’s collection and brochure pages are useful for seeing how related products fit together. Use them to explore the style, then confirm specifications against the individual product listing. Collection photographs may include complementary products that are sold separately.
Make the final selection easy to check
- Basin and bath drawings matched to the proposed outlets.
- Exact mixer, diverter, trim kit and in-wall body identified.
- Finish confirmed on every required component.
- Accessory lengths and positions measured.
- Product care information and delivery timing reviewed.
