Shower head & arm questions
Choose the head, mounting arm and water controls as a complete setup, with each component checked against its specification.
Does a shower head come with an arm?
A shower-head-only product is different from a head-and-arm set. Read the inclusions for the exact SKU, even when the lifestyle photograph shows a complete shower. Check whether the arm, wall or ceiling connection, hand shower, hose and mixer are included or need to be purchased separately.
Can I fit any shower head to any arm?
Check the manufacturer’s connection specification, mounting orientation and weight limits for both components. A matching finish does not establish compatibility. If you are replacing one component, identify the existing fitting and ask your plumber to confirm the proposed head and arm combination before ordering.
Should I choose a wall arm or ceiling arm?
Start with the available plumbing outlet and the position where you want to stand. A wall arm projects into the shower; a ceiling arm drops from above. Compare the arm’s reach or drop, head dimensions and the installed height. Moving the supply point is a plumbing decision, not simply a different arm choice.
What shower head size should I choose?
Compare the actual head dimensions with the shower enclosure and standing position. A larger head may suit the visual scale of a larger enclosure, but size alone does not tell you how the spray will feel. Check the model’s spray pattern, stated flow rate and pressure requirements alongside its size.
Does a larger shower head use more water?
Diameter alone is not a reliable way to compare water use. Look at the exact model’s rated flow in litres per minute and its WELS information where applicable. Check the operating requirements too; the final experience depends on the model and the plumbing conditions at the property.
Do I need a diverter for a shower head and hand shower?
Your controls need to suit the number of outlets and the way you want to use them. Check whether the selected set includes the required switching arrangement or needs a separate mixer and diverter. Have your plumber confirm the layout and concealed components before installation begins.
